On the morning of April 24, 2025, students from Văn Lang Sài Gòn College visited the Khăn Quàng Đỏ editorial section of Tuổi Trẻ Newspaper to learn skills for working with children.
The skill-building session was attended by 50 Public Relations students from Văn Lang Sài Gòn College.
During the program, students role-played as primary and secondary school children, participating in engaging games.
To better understand young audiences, the students were divided into four groups, each tasked with a question or scenario related to children. Over 20 minutes, they collaborated, brainstorming and presenting a variety of creative ideas.
For the task of identifying five challenges when communicating with primary and secondary school students, the groups also shared specific scenarios and proposed solutions.
Mr. Đặng Thiên Phong, Head of the Public Relations Department, expressed his admiration for the group exercise designed by reporter Lê Vi.
In one activity, the reporter presented an image and asked students what it evoked. The students provided a range of diverse responses.
The exercise not only highlighted the effectiveness of teamwork but also sparked the students’ imagination and creativity.
Surprisingly, the scenarios also served as a reminder that when interacting with children, it’s crucial to respect their opinions rather than imposing or pressuring them with adult perspectives.
Mr. Thiên Phong noted that the program equipped students with valuable skills and knowledge for communicating with children. This experience helped them identify their target audience and develop suitable communication products for the future.
First-year student Nguyễn Vy Hưng shared that, in addition to learning skills, the students had the opportunity to tour the newspaper’s departments and learn about the journalistic process.
Since childhood, Vy Hưng has been an avid reader of Nhi Đồng and Khăn Quàng Đỏ newspapers, regularly completing assignments, participating in the Lê Quý Đôn quiz, and engaging with other sections. She had always dreamed of visiting the newsroom, and today, that dream came true.
Vy Hưng proudly mentioned that her father, a swimming coach, had students featured in Nhi Đồng, with his name mentioned in an article. During the program, she was deeply moved to learn that the article was written by reporter Lê Vi
