VLSC – INTERNATIONAL CULTURAL EXCHANGE MEETING PLACE

A student delegation from Yeungnam University College – a technical college with a tradition of over 50 years in South Korea – has “landed” at VLSC, joining Vietnamese students to create art on traditional conical hats (Nón lá), resulting in a cultural exchange filled with color, inspiration, and a spirit of integration.

Yeungnam University College is located in the heart of Daegu – the industrial hub of South Korea. For many years, it has held the top position for student and parent satisfaction among Korean technical colleges and has been recognized as a World-Class College for consecutive years.

The “Nón Lá Decoration” workshop was not only a place to connect Vietnamese and Korean students but also an opportunity for young people from various countries and fields of study at VLSC to experience and tell cultural stories in their own unique way on the canvas of Vietnam’s traditional hat.

At VLSC, international cultural exchange is not a privilege, but a regular experience for all students.

FROM TRADITIONAL STROKES TO A STORY OF INTEGRATION: During the workshop, students not only met and interacted but also tried their hand at an activity rich in Vietnamese tradition – decorating the conical hat.

• Discovering Vietnamese Culture through the Conical Hat: Participants learned about the meaning and traditional value of the conical hat – a cultural symbol closely associated with the lives of Vietnamese people.
• Creating with Design Students: With guidance from students in Graphic & Interior Design, each participant transformed a conical hat into a “canvas” bearing their personal touch, from traditional motifs to modern styles.
• Fostering Multicultural Connections: Students from different countries had the chance to chat and share their cultures, enhancing understanding and intercultural communication skills.
• The Conical Hat – A Memento of Integration: More than just a creative product, the hat they took home is a testament to a memorable experience at VLSC – a place where art and culture intersect.
