Amid the lively atmosphere of cultural exchange, Hangeul Festival 2025, themed “Discover Hangeul – Discover Yourself” offered a meaningful journey of exploration and connection for both Vietnamese and international students of Van Lang Saigon College (VLSC).
The event took place on October 25, 2025, at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities – Vietnam National University, Ho Chi Minh City (Linh Xuan Campus), attracting more than 2,000 participants, including representatives from diplomatic institutions, faculty members, and students from 21 universities, colleges, and vocational schools offering Korean language programs in Southern Vietnam.
1. A Festival of Connection, cultural exchange and Korean heritage exploration
The year 2025 marks the 33rd anniversary of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and South Korea and the 579th anniversary of the creation of Hangeul, the writing system regarded as the “soul of Korean culture.” With the message “Discover Hangeul – Discover Yourself,” the festival served not only as an academic playground but also as a valuable opportunity for students to:
Deepen their understanding of the Korean language and culture through academic activities, artistic performances, and traditional games.
Build cross-cultural friendships, exchange knowledge, and promote the spirit of global integration.
Foster dynamism, creativity, and a progressive mindset through experiential and practice-based learning.
Beyond its cultural significance, Hangeul Festival also functioned as a bridge for educational cooperation among institutions teaching Korean Language and Korean Studies, thereby strengthening academic partnerships and cultural exchange between Vietnam and South Korea.
2. The mark of excellence from Van Lang Saigon College students
At this large-scale academic event, students from the Korean Language Department of Van Lang Saigon College demonstrated outstanding enthusiasm, creativity, and teamwork through active participation in a variety of competitions and activities, including:

In addition to the competitions, students also immersed themselves in traditional Korean culture through interactive experiences such as wearing Hanbok, practicing calligraphy, crafting bookmarks and handmade items, and engaging in folk games. These activities not only enhanced students’ linguistic proficiency but also broadened their cultural knowledge and deepened their passion for the Korean language.
