“Tet An Nhien” – A youthful and refined perspective on Vietnamese Lunar New Year
In the “Introduction to Graphic Design” course, Group 10 – Class of 2025 students at Van Lang Saigon College selected Cocoon Vietnam, a vegan cosmetics brand, as the subject of their visual research. From the brand’s core values – vegan-friendly, nature-oriented, and deeply rooted in Vietnamese identity – the group developed the concept “Tet An Nhien,” portraying a gentle, modern yet culturally grounded Lunar New Year.
Capturing brand essence and transforming it into design
By studying the brand value system, target customer preferences, and contemporary aesthetics, the students created a cohesive and highly applicable design identity:
The concept utilizes stylized imagery of bamboo and yellow apricot blossoms – iconic Vietnamese cultural symbols – executed through a minimalistic and elegant visual approach aligned with natural aesthetics.
A refined color palette of brown, gold, and cream with subtle metallic accents evokes warmth, serenity, and premium quality suitable for Tet gifts.
Minimalism guides the entire system: balanced layout, clean composition, and adaptable visual structure for versatile real-world deployment.
The final deliverables include gift boxes, red envelopes, canvas tote bags, calendars, and posters – forming a unified identity that accurately reflects Cocoon’s brand spirit during the Lunar New Year.
The project demonstrates serious research attitude, strong aesthetic competence, and storytelling ability through design – a professional portfolio piece for the students’ future career development.
